I have been interested in the human body for as long as I can remember. I received my Bachelor's degree in Athletic training from UNLV. I taught high school chemistry and bology and after observing a student's father I decided I wanted to become a chiropractor. During my education, a professor made the statement "Structure determines function." That phrase is what I base patient care, as well as my continuing education on.
As a chiropractor I am a Doctor of the skeletal system. I find the joints that are not moving correctly, and with a gentle pulse, put the bones in their correct place. But I am an athlete as well, and if the muscles that attach to the bones are in spasm, they can cause the bones to shift out of place again. This is why I have pursued becoming a certified Active Release Technique® practicioner for the entire body. ART allows me to clear the muscular system as well. "Structure determines function", if the bones are in the correct position and the muscles are in a relaxed state, the joints can move correctly. As nice as this sounds most patients will get some type of "homework", a stretch or two that they can do to allow them to maintain their body's healthy state.
I take great pride in what I do. I have patients that come into my office with numerous different ailments, from headaches to plantar fasciitis, and I get the vast majority of patients that come into my office feeling better, most within a few visits. The patients I get a lot of enjoyment from are the ones that tell me straight out they do not "believe" in what I do. It's not a matter of belief. This is not a religion. If you are having headaches (and I have found there to be an amazing correlation between headaches and bones in the neck not being in the right place) and I put the bones in the right place, the headaches typically improve. If you have sciatic pain, there are usually bones and muscles that cause that pain. Get those muscles to relax and get the bones to stay in the correct spot, the sciatic pain goes away. It's not a matter of belief, it's a matter of the structures being able to do what they are supposed to.
Obviously I cannot fix every pain/problem, but I do have a pretty good track record. I implore you, even if you have been to another chiropractor, come in and let me at least do an assessment. It's free and the worst thing that will happen is you will be more educated about what is going on in your body. You do not have to live in pain.
A few things about me personally. I love spending time with my family. My wife, daughter, son and our two dogs enjoy being outside; the beach, the mountains, an open field, it doesn't matter. Being couped up inside is the last thing we want. As far as sports go, my passion has always been rugby. I coached Middlesex Youth Rugby Football Club and in my first year they won the Division II championship for all of New England. I'll play any sport, even those I am not very good at because I love pushing my body and learning new things. Five and a half years ago I found a new way of pushing my body to it's limits without the risk of injury that is inherent in rugby, I have joined CrossFit New England. The coaches at the facility are perfectionists and they help all of us to push ourselves to our limits, intelligently. My wife and I look forward to going as often as possible. I also enjoy coaching people to get the most out of their bodies, to perform better than they thought possible.
